Terrestrial globe signed LORRAIN after Lapie (cartographer) by Bastien Ainé in Paris (Librairie géographe rue Saint-André Arts). Equatorial table and meridian clock and turned blackened wood base.

Note : Bastien Aîné published a large number of globes from the early 1820s onwards, initially based on Messier's early cartography.

Then on the basis of Lapie's more modern observations until 1868 (these were the most common globes produced by Bastien) and on the observations of Lorrain or Frémin (rarer).

Dimension : diameter of 20 cm x height of 47 cm.

Paris circa 1840.
