Brass hourglass with 3 bulbs.
Hourglass consisting of a brass frame formed by two hexagonal bays, linked by six columns formed by a brass rod, and bordered by a trefoil frieze decorated with openwork hearts. Inside, a flask continuous with two clear "bubbled" glass ampoules, one of which is composed of two spherical bulbs heat-soldered together. The central joint is covered with grey fabric, tightly woven with gold threads, and a white hourglass inside the bulbs.
Note : This hourglass is a classic from the second half of the 17th century, found in various museums and private collections.
An identical model is in the Louvre (coll. Nicolas Landau, inv. OA10793, cat.215).
