Mother-of-pearl and blackened brass perpetual calendar dated circa 1830.
The perpetual calendar consists of an openwork mother-of-pearl plate and a rotating mother-of-pearl disc on the back.
The front is marked "Perpetual Calendar" and is engraved with a disc marked with the months of the year and inside cut into sectors with numbers marked 1 to 31 and small stars. The left-hand side has a cut-out window through which you can read the days of the week engraved on the disc below. This disc rotates by means of a small gold and iron knob in the center.
The blackened brass frame features a griffin motif at the top and a draped rose motif at the bottom. The columns on either side are decorated with olive leaves ending in a dog's head.
Dimensions: height of 12.8 cm x length of 8.3 cm x thickness of 2.2 cm.
