Galerie Delalande Paris

Elegant one-piece 1/3-2/3 ivory opium pipe with silver saddle decorated with a bat.

Silver mouthpiece and hickey nicely engraved with flowers.

Stopper carved in the mass representing Buddha with a three-legged toad at his feet.

Round terracotta bowl with calligraphic signatures on the underside.

Note: The three-legged toad, also known as the Feng Shui toad, is a Feng Shui symbol for wealth and fortune. It wards off evil spirits and ensures health and prosperity. It is the embodiment of financial prosperity, longevity and luck (hence the 3 legs). The symbolism of the toad thus links the 3 "chances": heaven, earth and humanity.

Dimension: length of 53.5 cm.

China 19th century.
