Literature: Globe manufacturing business started by two brothers John (1755-1835) and William (c. 1759-1825) Cary. The brothers were already successful in their own trades: John as an engraver and card seller, William as a highly regarded instrument maker.

The two brothers continued to keep their other businesses separate, but the company's location on The Strand was also their own workplace. Around 1820, John moved elsewhere, leaving the business of making globes to his sons, who signed their globes George and John Cary (1821-1850).
