Each leg bears the letters A, B, C and D all around.

Supplied with original book “Usage d’un compas de proportion à quatre boites” by R.P. Toussaint de St Marcel, sold “A PARIS chez Lamy, Libraire, quai des Augustins” in 1783 (written in Roman numerals).

Provenance: ex Nessi collection.
